Yes, that’s true, there are many ways, especially since technically the SL client acts the same like e.g. Winamp in regards of music streams, so there are enough commands in the OS of your choice already to show it.

For example, you can also use Client menu's Console Window and that will show you the info, too. The Linden Lab issue # for this is SL-30647, but was closed as "won't resolve" due to the aforementioned. So while it's a casual deterrent, people with enough curiosity can get to it. And BTW (in regards to your other post), the bug is fixed in First Look Viewer and will hopefully roll out with a lot of other fixes, including the dang "invisible water" one.
